Ripple Prime Brings 24/7 Swaps to More Than 100 Traditional Markets

Ripple Prime launched round-the-clock perpetual swaps linked to equities, indexes, ETFs, commodities and currencies. The product broadens institutional reach, but Ripple disclosed no trading volume or financial contribution.
Ripple Prime has launched 24-hour perpetual swaps tied to more than 100 traditional-market references, including equities, equity indexes, exchange-traded funds, metals, energy and foreign exchange. Virtu is among the institutional clients already using the product, according to Ripple's October 15 announcement.
A perpetual swap tracks the value of an underlying market without giving the holder ownership of the referenced asset. Unlike a conventional futures contract, it has no fixed expiration date. That structure lets clients keep exposure open while markets for the underlying securities are closed, although pricing and liquidity outside normal hours can differ sharply from the cash market.
Ripple says clients can cross-margin these positions against other asset classes handled by Ripple Prime and can use the RLUSD stablecoin as collateral. The appeal is operational: one counterparty, a consolidated margin account and continuous access can reduce the amount of capital scattered across separate venues. The same concentration also makes counterparty risk and liquidation rules central to the product's economics.
The launch extends Ripple Prime beyond digital assets. It follows the introduction of a Delta One business for total-return swaps and integrations that connect institutional clients to crypto liquidity. The firm operates the new service through a British Virgin Islands entity licensed as an approved investment manager, with expansion to other jurisdictions planned.
What Ripple did not publish is just as important for investors. The announcement did not disclose trading volume, client count, fees, margin requirements or the revenue contribution expected from the product. It also does not establish direct demand for XRP. RLUSD is an available collateral asset, while the perpetual swaps themselves reference traditional markets.
The product is therefore evidence that Ripple is building a broader prime-brokerage franchise, not evidence that XRP usage will rise automatically. Adoption will be clearer when Ripple discloses repeat client activity, volumes and risk performance through volatile periods.
