SoFi’s second-quarter 2026 results support a growth thesis, but not the source’s precise $25 share-price target. The company reported record net revenue of $1.2 billion, net income of $157 million and 2.2 million product additions. Those are operating achievements. A target price still depends on the multiple investors assign to earnings that remain exposed to credit, funding and execution.
Capital-light growth is the important change
SoFi’s Loan Platform Business originates or services loans for third parties, earning fees without holding every loan through its life. In March, the company announced more than $3.6 billion of personal-loan delivery commitments across three partnerships. That model can expand originations while reducing the balance-sheet capital and duration risk associated with retaining loans.
It does not eliminate credit exposure. Partner demand can weaken, underwriting performance can damage pricing and SoFi still retains a large lending business. Deposits may lower funding costs, while faster loan growth can increase provision volatility if the consumer weakens.
Technology needs a cleaner proof point
The source acknowledges Technology Platform revenue fell after a large client left. SoFi’s filings also disclose that intercompany usage contributes to segment revenue and that total account metrics include SoFi accounts on the platform. Those definitions do not invalidate growth, but investors should separate external-client expansion from internal volume.
The stronger valuation case is diversified revenue: member products, loan-platform fees and externally generated technology sales growing faster than credit costs and share count. The relevant measures are segment contribution profit, third-party loan volume, net charge-offs, deposit cost and diluted earnings per share.
What investors should watch
SoFi can grow into a premium multiple if fee revenue becomes durable and credit remains controlled. The stock does not reach $25 simply because applying 30 times a forecast produces that number.
BTI's bottom line
The company must prove that its newer revenue streams reduce cyclicality rather than repackage it.
