Pony.ai Expands Overseas Robotaxi Pipeline Beyond 4,000 Vehicles

Pony.ai’s robotaxi revenue surged 691.2% in the second quarter as the company expanded its overseas pipeline beyond 4,000 vehicles and broadened its Uber partnership across Europe and the Middle East.

Pony.ai (NASDAQ: PONY; HKEX: 2026) is expanding its international autonomous-mobility ambitions after reporting second-quarter revenue of $36.2 million, up 68.8% year over year. The company’s pipeline of planned and potential overseas robotaxi deployments now exceeds 4,000 vehicles. Robotaxi revenue increased 691.2% year over year and represented one-third of total revenue for the first time, underscoring the growing contribution of commercial autonomous services. Management expects full-year robotaxi services revenue to exceed three-and-a-half times the level recorded in 2025. CEO James Peng said the company remains confident it can exceed its full-year robotaxi services revenue target. A key catalyst is Pony.ai’s expanded strategic partnership with Uber Technologies, Inc. (NYSE: UBER). The companies plan to deploy more than 2,000 Pony.ai Robotaxis across Europe, expanding from an existing commercial service in Zagreb to four additional European cities. The rollout will be announced in phases and also includes plans for the Middle East. The companies have not disclosed the additional cities, launch timetable or Middle East fleet details. The joint-deployment model combines Pony.ai’s Level 4 autonomous-driving technology, rider-experience capabilities and operational expertise with Uber’s mobility platform, including booking, payment and customer-service functions, as well as its network of human drivers. Local fleet partners may manage day-to-day operations, while vehicle funding and ownership can vary by market. The partnership began in May 2025. In 2026, Pony.ai and Croatian mobility company Verne launched Europe’s first commercial Robotaxi service in Zagreb, with Verne serving as local fleet owner and operator. Pony.ai operates paid, fully driverless Robotaxi services in China’s four tier-one cities and has achieved city-wide breakeven unit economics in multiple markets. Founded in 2016, the company’s vehicle-agnostic Virtual Driver technology integrates proprietary software, hardware and services. Pony.ai has expanded across China, Europe, Asia and the Middle East. Investors should weigh rapid revenue growth and international deployment potential against risks involving regulatory approvals, execution, operating economics and forward-looking expansion plans. Further risks are detailed in Pony.ai’s SEC and Hong Kong Stock Exchange filings.
