Penguin’s Record Quarter Came With a Working-Capital Warning

Penguin Solutions Soars 13% on Record Quarter and Raised Outlook: “The Proof Is in the Results”

Penguin Solutions raised fiscal 2027 guidance after revenue grew 68% and adjusted EPS reached $1.00. Memory drove the quarter, while inventory growth and negative operating cash flow reveal the cost of scaling.

Penguin Solutions delivered record fiscal fourth-quarter sales and raised its fiscal 2027 outlook, confirming that AI infrastructure demand is reaching memory, systems integration and operations services. The quarter also exposed the cash cost of the ramp, making working capital a central part of the stock thesis.

The beat had two engines

Quarterly net sales reached $566.7 million, up 68% from a year earlier, and non-GAAP diluted earnings per share reached $1.00. Integrated Memory revenue rose to about $341 million from $132 million, while Advanced Computing revenue increased about 11% to $154 million.

Penguin added six AI infrastructure customers, including four neoclouds. One engagement involves deploying and operating a 36,000-GPU AI factory in Norway. Those wins support the fiscal 2027 midpoint of roughly $2.43 billion in revenue and $4.45 in non-GAAP earnings per share.

Guidance is not yet cash flow

The company used about $152 million of operating cash in fiscal 2026 as inventory rose to roughly $749 million from $255 million. Inventory can be necessary when customers require components before installation, but it creates risk if deployments slip or memory prices fall.

Penguin ended the year with about $647 million of cash after issuing a $750 million zero-coupon convertible note. The note improves liquidity without current cash interest, but conversion can increase the share count. A strong revenue outcome can therefore coexist with weaker per-share value if cash conversion disappoints.

Margin mix is the counterargument

The quarter leaned heavily on memory, which can carry cyclical pricing. Advanced Computing and services provide a more differentiated opportunity, but investors need evidence that those businesses grow enough to stabilize margins when memory normalizes.

What investors should watch

Track inventory, customer prepayments, operating cash flow and the timing of the Norway deployment. Compare actual fiscal 2027 gross margin and EPS with the guide rather than treating customer wins as booked profit.

BTI's bottom line

Penguin's results justify a higher growth outlook. The next proof is financial quality: converting inventory and AI-factory commitments into cash before memory prices or deployment delays weaken the economics.
