Meta's Muse Models Give Its AI Spending a Revenue Test

Meta’s new AI models strengthen Bank of America’s bullish outlook

Bank of America sees Meta's new Muse models as proof of technical progress, but investors still need evidence that APIs, subscriptions and better advertising can repay the spending.

Meta's Muse Wonder models give investors something more concrete than a promise that heavy AI spending will eventually pay off. The company now has models it can offer through an API, a coding service and its own consumer assistant. The next question is whether those channels produce meaningful revenue or operating leverage.

Bank of America reiterated its buy rating and $810 price target after the launch, arguing that Muse Wonder and Muse Wonder Full strengthen confidence in Meta's AI capabilities. The bank pointed to potential revenue from enterprise contracts, API access and cloud distribution, as well as indirect benefits from better advertising recommendations. Those are plausible routes, but they are forecasts rather than reported results.

Meta said Muse Wonder is available through its API and Muse Code, while Muse Wonder Full is offered to Muse Code subscribers. The standard model is also intended to power the Muse assistant. That creates three distinct commercialization tests: developer usage, paid subscriptions and improved economics inside Meta's advertising platforms.

Technical progress alone does not settle the return-on-investment question. Meta must pay for computing capacity, model development and the products built around them before new revenue becomes visible. The original report cited large capacity plans for 2026 and 2027, which makes adoption speed especially important. If usage grows slowly, higher infrastructure expense can arrive before the revenue that is meant to justify it.

The most useful evidence will be disclosed API demand, subscription uptake, enterprise agreements and measurable improvement in advertiser returns. Lower reliance on third-party models could also reduce costs, but Meta has not quantified that benefit. Muse is therefore a positive product milestone with an unfinished financial case. The launch improves the range of ways Meta can monetize AI, while the burden of proof shifts to customer adoption and unit economics.

That evidence will matter more than benchmark scores alone.
