Meta's new ad products let brands reserve short high-reach windows, secure the first Facebook Feed ad and target trending Reels, expanding premium inventory while key measurement tools remain in testing.
Meta is borrowing a familiar idea from television advertising: sell a brand a defined moment with predictable reach. Its new Ads Super Burst format lets advertisers reserve a concentrated three- to 24-hour window across Facebook and Instagram, with category exclusivity available on selected U.S. dates.
The product is designed for launches, sales and major cultural events when a brand values speed and scale more than continuous delivery. Meta says Super Burst is moving to general availability in phases. The reservation structure also gives advertisers clearer expectations about reach and cost than an open-ended auction campaign.
A second format, First Impression Ads, is being tested in the United States. It allows one advertiser per day to buy the first ad position a user sees when opening Facebook Feed. Scarcity is the point: Meta can charge for a prominent placement while the buyer gets a cleaner brand-awareness proposition than it would from an ordinary impression.
Meta is also expanding Reels Trending Ads, which place promotions after popular short-form videos. Advertisers can now choose from 15 ongoing content topics, including Home and Garden and Spanish-language content, as well as seasonal collections built around sports and holidays. Broader topic choice can make the product easier to match with a brand's audience, though placement beside trending content also requires careful brand-safety controls.
The company is separately testing Aggregated View Time, a metric that adds up how long a person engages with a brand's videos across a week. That approach reflects how short-form video is often consumed in repeated fragments rather than a single long viewing session. It is still an experimental measurement tool, not a proven industry standard.
The products expand the ways Meta can package scarce attention, but the company has not disclosed pricing, advertiser adoption or expected revenue. Their financial importance will depend on whether premium placements bring incremental spending rather than simply move budgets away from existing Meta campaigns.
For investors, the announcement is evidence of continued product development inside Meta's core advertising engine. The next useful signals are advertiser take-up, measured lift compared with standard campaigns, and whether reserved formats improve pricing without reducing the performance that keeps marketers on the platform.
