Marvell's 2026 Rally Raises the Bar for Its AI Revenue

Marvell Is Up 214% in 2026 While Broadcom Is Only Up 3%: Take Profits on MRVL Stock, or Hold On for the Ride?

Marvell's shares have outrun larger chip peers, supported by rapid data-center growth. The valuation now depends on custom silicon and networking revenue arriving on management's schedule.

Marvell Technology's 2026 rally has turned an improving AI business into a demanding execution test. The source article measured the shares up 214% for the year through October 13, far ahead of Broadcom's 3% gain and Nvidia's 22% rise over the same window.

The operating case is real. Marvell reported record fiscal second-quarter 2027 revenue of $2.739 billion, up 37% from a year earlier. Data-center revenue grew 46%, driven by demand across custom silicon, electro-optics, storage and switching.

Why the market is paying attention

Marvell supplies custom chips and connectivity products to a small group of very large cloud customers. A major design win can produce years of revenue, but concentration works in both directions. Delays, lost programs or customers bringing designs in-house can have an outsized effect.

The company's fiscal 2026 proxy said data centers produced roughly three-quarters of revenue and that annual data-center sales had grown from about $200 million to more than $6 billion over a decade. That transformation explains why the stock is being valued as an AI infrastructure company rather than a diversified cyclical chipmaker.

Broadcom offers a useful contrast. It combines custom silicon with a much larger infrastructure-software business and reported fiscal third-quarter 2026 results with high operating profitability. Marvell is more exposed to the pace and timing of data-center programs, which can produce faster growth and greater volatility.

What the price now requires

A triple-digit stock gain does not prove overvaluation, but it reduces the margin for error. Investors should compare future revenue against management's custom-silicon roadmap, monitor customer concentration and look for networking products to broaden the growth base.

Marvell's next results must show that backlog and design wins are converting into revenue without a sharp deterioration in margins. The bull case is continued AI infrastructure expansion. The risk is that the share price has already capitalized several years of successful execution before those sales are fully visible.
