Susquehanna kept a Positive rating on GE Vernova while trimming its target to $1,270. The October 28 report will test whether backlog growth and higher guidance can support the valuation.
GE Vernova heads into its October 28 earnings report with an unusual mix of confidence and caution from Wall Street. Susquehanna kept a Positive rating on the power-equipment maker but lowered its price target to $1,270 from $1,300, according to Stocktwits. Even after the cut, the target implied roughly 35% upside from the closing price cited in the report.
A target is not a forecast that must come true. In this case, the more useful signal is that the analyst still sees substantial long-term value while making a modest adjustment before a near-term results test. Stocktwits cited consensus expectations for third-quarter revenue of $12.41 billion, up about 24% from a year earlier, and earnings per share of $3.42, up about 141%. GE Vernova has confirmed that it will release results before the market opens on October 28, followed by a 7:30 a.m. ET webcast.
The operating backdrop gives investors concrete benchmarks. GE Vernova reported second-quarter revenue of $11.1 billion, up 22%, and a backlog of $176 billion. Gas Power equipment backlog and slot reservations reached 116 gigawatts, with management targeting at least 125 gigawatts by year-end. The company also raised 2026 revenue guidance to $45.5 billion to $46.5 billion and free-cash-flow guidance to $11.5 billion to $12.5 billion.
Those figures explain why the market may look beyond a single quarter's earnings beat or miss. The more important questions are whether order growth remains strong, whether backlog carries healthy margins, and whether GE Vernova can convert reservations into firm orders without compromising pricing or delivery discipline.
The setup also leaves room for disappointment. A premium valuation can punish even solid results if margins, cash conversion or guidance fail to improve. The reduced target acknowledges that risk, while the Positive rating reflects confidence in continued demand for gas generation and grid equipment. October 28 should show whether that confidence is supported by another quarter of execution rather than by the size of the opportunity alone.
