Danaher Corporation (NYSE: DHR) appointed Julie Sawyer Montgomery as president, chief executive officer and a member of its Board, effective October 1, 2026. Rainer Blair will retire that day and serve as a senior adviser through March 31, 2027, supporting the transition. Montgomery joined Danaher in 2017 at Beckman Coulter Diagnostics and has since led commercial operations, research and development, and the Diagnostics platform. She became Beckman Coulter’s president in 2020 and most recently served as Danaher’s executive vice president responsible for Diagnostics. She brings nearly 25 years of healthcare, commercial operations and R&D experience. Under her leadership, Diagnostics revenue grew from approximately $6.0 billion in 2017 to approximately $11.0 billion today, while operating profit approximately tripled. Chairman Steven Rales cited her customer focus, patient advocacy, innovation, commercial excellence and operational rigor. Executive Committee Chairman Mitchell Rales highlighted Diagnostics’ share gains, Montgomery’s role in the recent Masimo acquisition and pending StatLab acquisition, and her optimization of the Danaher Business System across Life Sciences and Diagnostics. The StatLab transaction remains subject to customary closing conditions, including applicable regulatory clearances. Danaher also announced special equity incentive awards for key leadership members and founders. There is no change to previously communicated third-quarter or full-year 2026 guidance. Blair’s six-year tenure included portfolio transformation and leadership of more than 60,000 global associates through the COVID-19 pandemic. Montgomery said Danaher’s differentiated life sciences and diagnostics positions can support faster innovation, stronger capabilities and broader use of the Danaher Business System. Investors should monitor succession and execution risks, including retaining personnel, integrating Masimo and StatLab, debt incurred for Masimo, tariffs, economic instability, competition, artificial intelligence uncertainty, regulation, cybersecurity, currency, litigation, product liability, supply and labor costs, climate requirements, geopolitical disruption and inflation. Additional risk disclosures appear in Danaher’s 2025 Form 10-K and second-quarter 2026 Form 10-Q.
