BitMine Immersion Technologies says its ether holdings have reached 6,028,946 tokens, putting the company close to its stated goal of owning 5% of the cryptocurrency’s supply. Using the company’s cited circulating supply of 122.1 million ETH, the position equals about 4.94%.
The scale makes BitMine an unusually concentrated public-market vehicle for ether exposure. Its Oct. 12 disclosure valued the ETH position at roughly $15.3 billion using a price of $2,544 per token. The company also reported 214 bitcoin, an $85 million stake in Eightco Holdings, a $180 million stake in Beast Industries, and $612 million of cash. It put total crypto, cash and marketable securities at $16.2 billion.
Most of the ether is producing staking rewards rather than sitting idle. BitMine reported 5,067,309 staked ETH, about 84.1% of its holdings. The company estimated that the staked balance could generate approximately $336 million of annualized revenue at the prior week’s composite 2.61% yield. That figure is an estimate based on a short measurement window, not a fixed coupon; network rewards, validator performance, fees and token prices can all change the realized dollar return.
Closing the final gap to 5% would require roughly 76,000 additional ETH if the cited supply were unchanged. Supply is not static, so the actual number can move. The more important investment point is that each additional purchase increases both the company’s potential staking base and its sensitivity to the price of ether.
This strategy creates a straightforward upside case when ETH appreciates and staking income remains attractive. It also concentrates risk. A sharp decline in ether would reduce the value of the treasury, while the equity can trade at a premium or discount to the underlying assets. Share issuance used to finance purchases can also dilute existing holders even if token count rises.
BitMine’s 5% goal is therefore a portfolio policy, not a guarantee of shareholder returns. Investors need to track three figures together: ETH per diluted share, the value and liquidity of non-ETH assets, and the company’s share price relative to net asset value. The headline holding count shows progress toward the target, but those measures determine whether that progress creates value for each shareholder.
